About the science center
The science center became a project of the Carcieris a decade ago when they saved the historic Olney House from demolition. The structure had previously been a boy’s dormitory for the East Greenwich Academy which was founded in 1802 and closed in 1943.
The majority of high school students both regionally and in the state of Rhode Island received their education from The Academy at the time and the Carcieris' parents themselves had gone to school there! Sue and Don wished to breathe new live into the facility and offer science education to the local community.
